Blackjack: Progressive Betting Systems
A number of betting systems for blackjack have been developed to help players better manage their bankroll. Some of these betting systems are fairly effective and when used properly, can increase the winnings of the player or at least prevent huge losses. Others however, aren't worth using as the advantage gained through their use is almost negligible.
Two well known blackjack progressive betting systems will be discussed in this article; the 2 Level Progressive Betting System, and the 5 Level Progressive Betting System.
First up is the 2 Level Progressive Betting System. Most experienced and knowledgeable blackjack players consider this to be the simplest, yet effective betting system in use today. The mechanics of this Progressive Betting System is easy enough for new and old blackjack players to learn.
To apply this betting system, the player is required to set a minimum and maximum bet, hence 2 levels. The player should then stick to the amounts decided for the entire duration of play. The minimum bet will be used after each loss while the maximum bet after each win. To further demonstrate how this betting system works, an example will be provided.
Let's say a player decides to have a $3 minimum bet and a $10 maximum bet. The player should then start with the $3 minimum as the first bet. In case the player wins that first hand, the $10 maximum bet will then be used. If the player continues to win the succeeding hands, then the $10 maximum bet will be used for each hand.
If however, the player loses the hand, then the $3 minimum would be used again. For every loss, the player should go back to the minimum bet. This is a solid and reliable progressive betting system that can help the player better manage his/her payroll.
Next up is the 5 Level Progressive Betting System. As the name suggests, this is a variation of the 2 Level system mentioned earlier. Instead of using a minimum and maximum bet; a 1,2,3,5 then back to 1 progression will be used. An example will again be provided.
Let's say the player decides to use a $3 minimum bet. Since the increments in this progressive betting system are 1,2,3 and 5; then the player should use a $3,6,9 and 15 betting level. Like the 2 level system, the player starts with the minimum bet of $3. For each successive win, the player should increase the bet amount to correspond to the betting levels mentioned earlier.
If the player wins four hands in a row, then the 5th bet amount would again go down to the $3 bet. This is because the 5th level in this system instructs the player to go back to level 1 (the minimum bet).
This particular progressive betting system rewards blackjack players on a winning streak, yet it won't severely punish them with losing streaks.
Both betting systems can be rewarding for blackjack players who know when to use them, and how to use them. They're simple and easy to understand and give a fair degree of effectiveness.
